I'm working on a new site for our law firm and have been pretty happy with one of my concepts so far. I'm surprised I'm going with the kind of layout I'm doing, it surprised me to come up with it.
But that's a refreshing feeling! :)

my professional work is largely meaningless and inconsequential. My personal work is getting fewer and farther between. There is an increasing level of chaos in my mind where the only constant is the knowledge that I will probably never be settled in life let alone happy with some piece of prettified paper. What it must be like to have a plan and to feel tied to and part of something I really do wonder. constant transience.

not so good. i used to be more excited about my work and had plenty of ideas. over the years, the ideas have somewhat dried up and i am beginning to realize that just because i like it, doesn't mean i am good at it.
the flow of ideas is still there but just not for design. one day its a story and the next day its for a song. i need to try it all i guess.

My reality is that commercial work is hardly ever exciting....Most of the time it's not what you dreamed of when in school. Doing those personal projects keep us interested in what we do.
Though a lot of my days are just filled with doing jobs that pay the bills, I can honestly say i couldn't think of doing anything else.
Every once and a while a very fun and interesting job comes through, and when they don't, there is always the personal work.
I've been working on a lot my own stuff lateley.
