Hey guys,
i have a job interview soon with BBC Broadcast to do motion graphics design.
Any pointers with interview techniques would be greatly appriciated as i really want this job.
Also, if anyone has had a similar interview with the BBC tell me everything, from what clothes i should wear to what accent i should speak with.
Just so you know, they already have my showreel.
Help me guys, cheers

(May 16 05, 05:26)Aer you joking? Dress as well as you possibly can. And I'm assuming speak English.
- paddywop0
the accent thing was just a joke, meant to get across that i dont have a clue what they'll be expecting of me

be confident, be yourself and at least act like you know what you are talking about even if you don't.
- paddywop0
Cheers JazX, thats seems pretty straight forward.
On a different note, was it you i was talking to ages ago about going to south africa. If so, you might like to know that i just got back and had an amazing time out there.

Good luck in any case!

Goodluck, be confident and interested in them as much as they are with you, remember they want to employ you, just help them make the decision.
And a good pair of brogues goes down wonderfully.

bangin' around Cape Town?

hey paddywop
BBC Broadcast isn't part of the BBC anymore, so i don't know whether the interviews operate in the same way.
usually for bbc jobs it's quite a detailed interview process - they have at least 3 people in on the interview taking notes, 1 of which is a HR person to make sure the interview follows "policy".
basically they have to tick lots of boxes and fill in lots of forms and it works to a points system so that if you call back afterwards to ask why you did/didn't get the job they can tell you exactly why.
so when they ask you specific questions, make sure you answer the question! sounds obvious but lots of people don't.
it's a creative position, so of course dress as scruffily as possible (*pinch of salt here)! if you wear a suit they won't think you're a creative! but this is true of any creative job in london, isn't it?
a good tip is to try to turn the interview around so that you are interviewing them, so have questions for them in mind when you go in. read industry related press to make sure you're up on current issues.
be yourself, be relaxed, be charming, don't go on and on, just say the relevant things but don't be afraid to have a personality, as long as you don't come across as a wanker i'm sure you'll be fine.
n.b. i'm no "official bbc spokesperson" by any means.
