Really thinking about buying a G5 20inch Imac.. Is it worth it ya think? Or should I just opt for a custom built pc?

my 20" imac was my best computer purchase ever

pc = more bang for your buck.
if you do lots of complex work get a pc.
if youre a poser, get the imac ;)

buy what you need, or what you can afford...
Depending on what you do.I always wanted to be a part of the club, but I never figured out, how to do a backslash on mac, so my choice goes to the PC. But Tiger seems really good.

i think for the money, the 20" iMac is hard to pass up. already builit for wireless internet and bluetooth, good size hard drive, decent memory(the one thing i'd add on) and yes, Tiger is awesome. running the creative suite in it is quite choice. 64bit architecture is damnable fast.
say if you build a Dell that equals the iMac...you're well in to $2500 so......
now i need to go catch my tail.....come here ya bastard.

G5 Powermac, higher bus speed, more expandibility, can also be had for cheap.

okay, look like its a return to the Mac....................

is it worth upgrading to tiger on a G3 iBook?
looking at a better mac so might trade it in and get an emac or something (don't shout, i don't use a mac enough to justify £1k on a powermac)

It all depends on what you want to do...
forget the everyday stuff, both can do that with ease.
Lets say your a bit of a gamer - then go with a PC - its fact macs aren't supported to well and when they do get games it takes ages for them to be released.
I am on G5 tower and one thing I miss is playing games.
Think about what you want to do with it after you have done your regular stuff.

Having no games on it is a good thing.
Last time around when I used a mac at home, I got loads of designing done, because there was fuk all else to do on it except design
Then I went and bought a PC.. with the intention of it being more flexible, and being able to use the design applications still.. but did I ? fukin no.. I use the PC 95% of the time for gaming.

Hahaha I can vouch for that! LOL! I get on and do 30 minutes of work and then I get to a stoping point and it's time to take a brake! =D Although now adays most games are on both platforms now. I have a friend who got an iBook for school and he has the same problem so.....round and round we go.

(May 9 05, 06:41)So you can point me the right direction for colin mcrea 5, LEGO Star Wars, Grand Theft Auto or half life to name a few...
in fact a mac has a really bad games list!
doom, sims are about the only decent ones (i hate the sims though - so I wont be playing on that!)
