The aeron is well worth the money, I bought it myself a year ago from, ultimatebackstore.com
I had terrible pain in my shoulders and really needed a good chair, since I have had the aeron, I have had no pain, and the chair is one of the few items in my home that lives up to the hype and is worth the money.
There is also the freedom and liberty chairs, but they seemed more like lounging chairs then "working" chairs.
Just to add, the aeron is very sturdy. Plus it has a 10 year warranty that basically means if anything goes wrong they give you a brand new chair. I broke the knob when i moved into my new apt, I blamed it on the chair, and they gave me a new chair.

I say go with the aeron chair
Ive worked at a lot of diff studios and used a wide range of these work chairs. I always liked the aeron. The forward tilt thing is so good to prevent you from slouching. And the posturefit back thing works way better then the back arm they had before.I got a used one at an auction when a lot of the web design companies went belly up in Toronto. There were on site auctions. So sad.
I just updated my old aeron with the posturefit and it helps a lot.the other great thing about the aeron is the mesh seat. it prevents you from getting sweaty balls.
I also used a sitag chair that was wicked and a steelcase #19 . you might find them on ebay
ps it is kind of ugly in a nerdy way
