hardly anyone i know works doing the same thing they studied exactly.
buck up partna, it's not so bad. Maybe there is a lot to learn as an English major, and if you're not bummed out you'll actually like it.
Also, having bombastic writing skills can immediately rocket you to upper management in a lot of industries (for example ideating and writing cool proposals for an ad firm). Not that you want to work in advertising, but just saying writers have a place in a lot of different areas.
I know a guy who's job it is to watch movies that that cable movie channel STARZ and write up information about what he liked and didn't like. He suggests movies to be purchased and shown on the network. Geeeez what a job.
