Apparently Lucky Strike is rebranding? not sure but I just bought this pack today and the only things on it were the logo on the top and bottom and styled text on the front. nothing else. the rest of the box was completely blank except for the surgeon general warnings and barcode.
anyways i just though this was a pretty rare piece of packaging and would like to share it with everyone.

i'd smoke those.
i smoke benson & hedges extra mild only because the packaging is white with purple and it looks pretty :P

i started smoking (Lucky Strikes) merely because Raymond Leowy was my hero

who needs a warning label anyways?!? shit, we're all old enough to know matches can burn you... why put it on a label?

That looks cool but why get rid of the rising sun?
I thought it was funny that Honda F1 cars could keep just the red dot stating that it was a symbol for Japan not Lucky Strikes.

rising sun? that is a target.
as far as my design history book tells me, they've been around since the first world war (at least) and they used to come in this crappy green packaging with the "target" in the middle. Raymond Loewy, the french american designer, redesigned the logo and the packaging, changing the box to white and keeping the target.

They're looking quite tasty... though I'm strictly a marlboro reds guy.
They recently introduced some new warnings here in england and the one that hits me the hardest has to be "smoking causes a slow and painful death" - nice and cheery

It's funny about those warning labels. What other product has a label on it saying it's bad and you shouldn't buy it?!
I would love to see some statistics showing if people actually didn't purchase because of it "Oh wow, It's BAD? No way am I getting this now!"

can't find it, i know there is a report somewhere plus it's quite a common knowledge that those warning do not work in general, it actually promotes it more in some cases like candy etc.
in this case it's more a prelimenary warning towards kids who think it's cool to smoke to lower their numbers. for smokers themselves it doesn't work at all but i really think it's not focussed on the smokers themselves except maybe trying to make them feel bad. it's hypocrit anyways, any government makes a lot of money on smokers anyways.
i remember the black death brand, somewhere in the early 90's, black packaging, silve gothic type saying black deatch, silver skull, nice packaging, sold quite well. still excists i think, they also have wodka and tequila.
