How the hell do you get in early. I'm new to this.

you'd have to have an agreement with the company to buy stock, otherwise you'll have to buy on the open market
- dbloc0
so you've got to have an in with the company?
- ********0
yeah, you have to have an in to buy before they go public
- dbloc0
anyone here work for volcom?
- piperboytoy0
no if it goes public then anyone can buy. Just have to consult your broker or financial person at your bank.
- dbloc0
ya I was interested in buying before it goes public.

a very long story, and only for insiders.
what is IPO, what is Volcom?
why do journalists always forget to write one simple introductory sentence?
damn.
- jevad0
IPO = Initial Public Offering ie You can buy shares in teh company
Volcom is an overrated 'lifestlye' clothing company, and I expect that their stock price would rise 2 or 3 fold before crashing dramatically several months later, so I wouldn't bother.
- dbloc0
you think?
- vburo0
thx jevad.
i never bought any stocks so i did not know that.
i never bought any clothes either..
- vburo0
if they sell fashion and lifestyle why do they have a name that makes me think of cable companies?
- ********0
buy exxon instead
- vburo0
any company with com at the end of their name sux in my book.
- jevad0

- vburo0

save your cash.
i wouldn't buy into any skate/snowboard company... probably one of the most unstable industries out there.
- kerus0
its just like music.
sure itll exist in XX years, but the fans are so fickle...... save the loot

and in similar news...
Quiksilver purchased Rossignol, and VF Corporation purchased Reef

I don't know, Volcom has already crept up to POLO status as far as a brand. People pay upwards of 150 U.S. for a sweater. It seems very solid. not just another skate brand
