I can't wait to see it tonight. I actually despised the version made in the 70's precisely because it was way too 70's & had cheesy graphics and stuff. Yet I liked Dr. Who as a kid. Go figure.
I can't wait to see this modern version!

It was awesome. Way better than the 70's craziness (although I did have the hots for the original Ford Prefect), entertaining, & funny.
The story makes you appreciate what you have.
...although I must admit that I don't feel it induced as much thought as when I originally saw it. Maybe it's 'cause I was sitting next to my beautiful Prof. that I want to have babies with and was paying a little attention to him. Just a little. *sigh*

Hitchhikers sucks.
No dynamic build up, all bits and bops which speed along. Some of them nice, some of them rather badly designed.
No continuity.
And for God's sake, who told the mixing guy to have music every single second of the movie?
Hitchhikers is a design-disaster.

Oh come on. You didn't like the graphics directly in the guide? They were nice & clean.
And the story did leave off some plots without end, like the gun from Deep Thought.
Gotta love the dolphin song. And Marvin did rock with sexy Alan Rickman's voice. Mmm.

did anyone else notice that the silver robot in the vogsphere line was the original marvin from the bbc series?

I never got into this story and the movie has the same vibe as the will smith movie: Wild Wild West.
Am I missing something?

Having never read the book, and being from the UK - I thought it was great! Very funny and some nice graphics for the guide.

Did America get it?

Sam Rockwell was great.

ugh..horrible film.

i think it's easier to accept ridiculous circumstances reading it in a book than it is to see it on screen without any explanation
it's better as a book, but i thought the art direction was great and the hidden references were cool
it had its moments...

Didn't quite work. Coulda been better. Wasn't as philosophical as the book, and therefore not as funny. Too much emphasis on action. But i guess it was enjoyable.
Kuz
(Apr 29 05, 04:30)That's why I don't read kuz, it spoils things!!

I just saw this last night and I was dissapointed. Visually the movie was awesome (especially loved the guide) and mild comedy, but the story was shit, and didn't define anything, especially characters. Would have been better to wait for DVD

The only real problem I had with the movie was how overdone the love story was compaired to the book. Other than that, I think they did an excellent job trimming a great novel into a feature film. It was still funny and witty... and british.

... and they left it open for the next book!

I wanted to leave when I saw people trailing in with towels over their shoulders.
Cult groupies ruin everything.

Are you serious Mimio? People were actually sporting towels, hahahaha.
