ah come on man - calling bands sellouts for signing to major labels is so Green Day circa 1995.
They know what they are doing - it's going to give them massive exposure and it is going to allow more people to here the awesome things they sing about - instead of fucking tit wanks like yellowcard, maybe some gormless 16 year old will now get to hear them on the radio, and start to question hom or her self, about the world.
"New label or not, Anti-Flag will continue to operate in that manner. We will continue to speak out against sexism, racism, and homophobia, as well as punk-scene elitism and superficial assholes. We will continue to stand against the mindlessness and dangers of patriotism, nationalism, militarism, fascism, and morally bankrupt neo-conservatives."
More power to them.

i just think it's sad that they didn't tell their family in person.
"dear friends / family"
unless of course they meant that their fans are their family.
i'm rambling, i blame it on beauty product fumes

its really up to the record company to give the band how much artistic freedom. I hope they REALLY stick to what they stated on their site. In the end its really about sticking to your beliefs, and im sure anti flag wouldn't disapoint us.

but its strange how a biggie chose this time to sign a band of that nature. their stuff is totally "untrendy" anymore.

some close friends of mine went through this same bullshit when they signed to a major. It amazes me that some people have the nerve to think that they can tell others how to live their life.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be able to own a home or provide for your family and produce music at the same time. It's hard doing that as an indie artist sometime and if you get the opportunity to keep on making music and making a living doing the things you love then I saw do it.

I have a hard time seeing how they are selling out. Now if they were like, "Fuck it we are going to play pop" then ok. But going to a different label? If they still play the same awesome music they did before then I could give a shit.

don't get me wrong, i wouldn't call green day sellouts, or the offspring, or even blink-182.
anti-flag, however, like rancid, has preached the anti-major-label speech for ages. not only that, but the labl they're signed to is owned by ge, who is reaping profits from the war in iraq.
it just seems like af didn't do their research on this.
