that Saudi dude looks rich
- kbags0
yay.
- blaw0
all these dudes ever want to do is change the rules to suit them.
fine precident being set. if this nation ever sobers up and republicans aren't the majority, does that mean all the rules get changed again?
bullshit.
- mrdobolina0
old schoolers like bob dole are telling them to be careful what they wish for. They will not always be the majority. the pendulum always swings.
- Mimio0
That's sort of the point of all of this. Get GOP judges and governors, redraw the districts(again) and keep the GOP in power.
- blaw0
"...redraw the districts(again)..."
just the mentioning of that sends my bloodpressure through the roof.
- mrdobolina0
How can good republicans put up with this shit?
- PonyBoy0
it's hard to deal with, dobs...
... lemme tell ya. ;)
I officially think I'm libertarian.
- Mimio0
Because they have no aspirations for society beyond their own personal wealth.
- mrdobolina0
I think that a lot of people are going to change their shit up next time around.
All of the old republicans I knew growing up are dead now. I would like to see their reaction to this sort of shit. A few weeks back I had my very very republican friend admitting that Bush is a shitty president. I mean, you can be a republican and think that your repulican president sucks, can't you? Or is that against the loyalty oath or something.
- vburo0
good republicans?
they exist?? wtf?
i thought they were extinct..

"I mean, you can be a republican and think that your repulican president sucks, can't you? Or is that against the loyalty oath or something."
.... yep... I'm rather grossed out by Mr. Bush's lame use of christianity. I'm christian - he can't be based on his actions.
- Mimio0
I hear you. I rthink the same thing, These guys in power aren't really even Republicans. Even Nixon seriously entertained a national health care program, because he knew it would encourage foreign investment. These guys dont want that.
- mrdobolina0
Even amongst republicans, the invoking of 9/11 as a reason for out of control spending is becoming a joke.
- mrdobolina0
Another messed up thing about this is that Bill Frist went on TV last night on "Judicial Sunday" or whatever the christians called it. With organizations like the Christian Coalition backing up this ending of the filibuster.
What I dont get is if the church wants to play politics, they should start paying fucking taxes first, then we can talk.

As bad as Republicans are nowadays, I think it should also be pointed out that Democrats are spineless, semi-Republican cowards.
The reason Democrats have a problem taking the hardline positions Republicans take is because they're in the pockets of big business and just don't want to admit it. Republicans at least are what they are.
I'm just liberal. I don't think the Democratic party comes anywhere near close to representing my values. And certainly the Republican party needs an ego check.
- Mimio0
What hardline positions should Dems be taking that they already aren't? I would agree that bth parties play towards the center, but that's because it's a two party system.
- mrdobolina0
jk, but look at who is making the political contributions to the two major parties. the only real one they have in common is the credit card companies. then look last week the bankruptcy bill passed that really doesnt help people out at all, just the CC companies. Democrats are the lesser of two evils and if you dont have a better alternative, I will continue to vote dem.
Energy lobbyists wrote the fucking energy bill behind closed doors and Cheney said the reason why it wasnt a transparent meeting is because of national security reasons. And the people bought that shit, hook line and sinker.

Example.
Republicans: We should go to war in Iraq to prevent a pre-emptive strike. We should go to war to stop Saddam Hussein. We should go to war now. Don't wait, go now. Now now now. War war war.
Democrats: Well maybe we should go to war, but first we should try sanctions. But oh, the Republicans already went without us...so um...we're glad we caught Saddam Hussein, but we don't really want to go to war. We want our people to stay there a little while, but we don't have a timetable for how long, but it shouldn't be very long.
---
I'm giving my dramatic interpretation, of course. :)Personally? I don't like war. I think its a lot of senseless death. But while Republicans veil their reasoning for going, at least they've got their agenda straight.
Basically, I feel like Democrats are reactionary right now. Republicans do something and Democrats react the opposite way. It makes me feel like Democrats don't have an agenda of their own to fill.
- jkosoy0
I also want to point out that I'm not trying to make a pointed assault on anyone else's beliefs here. I'm just throwing my opinion out there.
I'm pretty positive I hate Republicans as much as anybody here on NT...I'm just not happy with Democrats either. :)
