I don't know how rare it is, but It's a beautiful 2-volume book:
No! Contemporary American DADA

negativespace.. you should be browsing through small cultural towns, spending time in tiny bookstores or ancient secondhand shops. That should do the trick.. Join janne and me in our journey ;)
BTW Josef Muller-Brockmann
is guaranteed for quality, love his work and books

yeah, i can also recommend to visit the less popular smaller towns across Europe. they got these nice lil old bookstores with nice old people running them, and sometimes they sell books like these for as little as 20 bucks or so! :D
Big cities are less favorite as the shops there are often sold out quicker and those sellers are often more aware of the real value of some of these books..
nice posts btw guys!!
keep them coming!
really appreciate the photographs posted here as well!

a couple "rare" ones i have :
• design:vignelli - hardcover first press
• graphis diagrams (seems to be a ho topic right now)
• karel martens : printed matter (not old, but out of print and a favorite of mine)
• herb lubalin:art director, designer and typgrapher, all 4 issues of eros and avant garde issues 1-12 (rare? maybe, maybe not, but certainly treasured)
• some other odds and ends. i don't really collect a lot of big name old stuff, i like to find random crappy dover books from the late 60's/70's

Not really a book as such but I'm the proud owner of the course brochure for the 'Hochschule fur Gestaltung und Kunst' designed by Emil Ruder & Kurt Hauert.
Priceless

engage, total design book is worth keeping, since dutch firms are often printing in low quantities or in 1 or 2 releases.
which one do you have?
