This is a good place to start learning: http://courses.help.com/
To the lower right click on "Digital Video Workshop".
You have to sign up for it (it’s free). The workshop takes you through all the filmmaking basics. Very easy very fun.IMDB has a glossary of all the filmmaking terms.
http://indie.imdb.com/Glossary/As for what software to use, I say Adobe Premiere. Or if you want something a little cheaper and basic Ulead’s Movie Studio Pro is good.

Your not braging, I agree, and others have tried it with great success.
There used to be a site that teaches you how to do this on your own , it's called B2C technology (Brain to Camera for us layman).
So basically, you cut a small slice in your temple, about 1/2 inch deep, and you buy the interface and wires from the website... I didnt read through so I cant tell you the step by step, but you basically shove this thing in the incision and then sow it up. The kit comes with a little IPOD storage/remote thingy and you just fiddle with it to have it record and what not. Supposedly, this is the same technology they use to film the Matrix effect (when you spin around an object making it look 3d).

I don't want to brag but if I could get my camera to capture movements as fast as my eyes I'd be set, and nasa wouldn't have shit on me, because testing bomb's ain't playing nice, said Simon.

Twin who spoke at SP
http://www.atwinthing.com/had an example of this camera that could shoot up to 150,000 FPS !!
they had one example that was way less than that, ..where there was a balloon filled with water and a scalpal was dropped on to it in slow-mo
when the scalpal hit the balloon you could still see the water in the shape of a baloon even tho it had burst, absolutely amazing
I wish I had a quicktime of it or knew what the camera was
apparantly the guy who invented it has been approached by NASA and other large US companies for Missile testing etc.

whats a good camera to start fucking around with for an absolute beginner?
- randoman0
yes, R'ing T F'ing M comes next after we've given you a basis on which to start your own research-

look around on ebay... generally your video will be 24 or 30fps. Shooting in higher fps will let you have more space to play with slowmotion, and highspeed action shots will tend to blur less.
- scarabin0
why don't you just rtfm
- randoman0
It depends on what you want your movie to looks like.. 16:9 is the aspect ratio of the screen (think letterbox) SP is better recording quality than LP but you get less space to film with on the tape. Audio 16bit is higher qual than 12 bit. D Zoom means digital zoom... which you should probably not use.
DV is Digital Video which is better to use and easier to capture than hi-8 or older tape cams.
lo-end DV cams can be had for a couple hundred bucks these days - if your going ot make any investment I suggest getting a DV cam.

What would be a good buy for a onehanded(small) camera with obscene fps? Hee Hee.
- komodofrog0
D Zoom?
16:9Wide on or off?
REC MODE SP or LP?
AUDIO MODE 12BIT or 16BIT
COMMANDER?What are some of the settings I should use when filming.
- randoman0
Since you don't have a camera that shoots at an obscene fps to make some nice slowmotion in editing, get creative...
Depending on how important the shot it and how much time you want to spend making it look nice, and real - or achieve your desired effect...
you could produce a small rig that holds the cig in front of the cam, and then drop the two in a smooth motion using the tripod, cut to it hitting the ground after a normal drop...
More advanced, chroma key it into a scene and use after effects to "drop it".
Or simply shoot it falling, add timestretch in post, but expect to see something pretty blurry and video-like.

Is this tape thing 8mm camera even good for them sharp ass short films, or am I still gonna get that amateur filming shiznat like with home made porno, and what is DV please and I didn't know I could change the framerate of the camera either
- scarabin0
you add the sound yourself
- Mimio0
Don't shoot DV in that BS 24p cinema mode either. That can cause blurring when you're editing.

Well, I just remembered what I wanted to ask.
I wanted to know if there is a source of slang terms in the ''movie making'' area, I'm quite too stupid to read the camera's manual through, also
the good movies today have all them great cinematographic angles, well I've had various ideas, but how could I capture the movement of a cigarret falling to the floor in slow motion and hear it go through the air and hiting the floor.
