the answer is: holy fuck they are smart.
if they sell one shirt.. they just made as much as we all do in one year.
if they can sell 10 shirts at $100,000 each, then they are millionares by selling those crazy expensive shirts to the billionares of the world.
brilliant.

Conceptualy it's sound.
having read http://www.hartlarsson.com/purpl…
In a world filled with mass produced things, having something original is quite welcoming.
But that seems to be where it ends, at least in this case.
I would assume that having a one of a kind item would be better if the said item was actually nice and had some substance other than being unique for the sake of being unique.
Creating your own clothing is great, buying one of a kind clothing from artists who spend time creating these things for the love of it is just as good. Writing with marker s on something for the sole purpose of making it unique is really dodeing the whole point. If anything, it's the people buying the items which are the work of art in this case.

buy a $5 t-shirt from somewhere, buy a $1 marker from somewhere, write some letters on it, and you have a one of a kind article of clothing! wow!

Be aware to that much of what you see these days isnt as it appears.
In the 80's an artist might get a permit and wrap some islands in pink mesh. Today an artist might get some cheap webspace and design a ficticious site.
People like reactions more than reality in many cases.
