I think it'sll be good for users of the product because it will feel as though there is an introduction of standards accross the product range. From Illustrator to PS to Flash to Dreamweaver -- it will make sense.
May not be good for employees since there will inevitably be "opportunities for cost savings" which is probably jobs.

small question, with the whole cs product range, you can only use cs documents with cs apps right? so you can't use a illustrator cs file in illustrator 10 for instance?

not good news.

there'll be no more competition though. gonna be lazy about it and probably drop alot of the good things that were in the pipeline

I hope Adobe gives Macromedia software a face lift with the icons, I hate color icons in software that i spend alot of time in. I know when u hover over a button in illy or adobe it shows color but only when its hovered over and thats the way it should be.

flash + after effects?
made easy...
uh i still think is not good news

(Apr 18 05, 00:40)Almost definitely.
Also for all those commenting about Flash being shit...
remember LiveMotion???
Nuff said.
Adobe should stick to print and keep Macromedia as their multiNuNonPrintMedia division.

talk to whatever designers developed them for macromedia.

I dunno why corel changed there icons to purple they had that look illy has now before and now they have purple, although u could change each icon in corel products.

alot of companys stay competitors even though it's the same owner, it tends to keep the new ideas coming a little faster
- mevsthem0
There will be more competition from M$ Flash versus Sparkle also Corel has a Flash competitor and other products. But What i find interesting is Illustrator and Freehand put together and you have one great Vector program.

Agree, it will be a *very* bad thing for the design industry. Just look at Microsoft when they won the browser war - almost instantly the innovation and new releases stopped. Without Adobe and Macromedia compeating head-to-head on products like FH/Illustrator, they will be able to crank up the price, and we all won't have a choice but pay.

Thats not decided yet, maybe they can't do it. Maybe the competition law dont let them make the aquisition!! Lets just hope!
- xovi0
they need to have free open source for the design industry =) oh linux when will you make apps that us designers can use
- xovi0
We can threaten to spam the stock holders to vote against the merge =P
- rabattski0
elfangio is right though. could be canceled / shaped in a different form since it's monopolizing and in most countries this would be very doubtful.
