i hate them. but i just realised that i dont have a good reason to hate them.
can someone tell me again why i should hate templates.
i'm in a middle of an argument.

yeah man, i hate templates too. though, i shouldn't judge, maybe they didn't choose to be templates after all.

some templates are good, it depends on the purpose. there is a template system that runs the front end of my viewer, so if i want it to look different i can build a different framework for it, but the php still all runs the same on the back. so with the templating system in place i can do very little work and achieve completely different results as far as what the user sees

Templates are the same as everything else, the bad ones are bad but the good ones are worth their weight in gold.

template in a sense of a versatile frontend, with separation of content and presentation, is good.
template in a sense of "69 bucks for a complete website" is a fuckin joke. nothing is more shameful for a company than a website/identity that looks exactly like someone else's, bought right from the shelf.
