Anyone notice that they paid more in state and local taxes due to the federal tax cut? What a fucking scam that Bush tax cut was.

Yeah,
I got about $250 less this year before any deductions.(8283).
Plus, they haven't even balanced the budget(and won't in the forseeable future), so it won't be getting better.

that tax cut is such a shell game it is silly. my federal taxes were cut, but my state and local taxes go up. It's like playing whack-a-mole.

I miss Texas, which has no state income tax.
I'm surprised we don't pay a city tax out of our paychecks here in Chicago, but we pay plenty else for outrageous gas prices, property tax, etc.

going to go pick up taxes this afternoon. getting a pretty good refund too.
5 years ago i would blow that refund but now i am older and wiser and i will put that money in savings to go towards a house.

Wish I put my refund in saving but like a fool I broke studio rule #1 and spilt cran-grape juice all over my laptop! Now it's gonna cost me $1000 to get back in working order. This sucks, I cant get ahead this month.

can't really tell because I moved up this year in the tax brackets. Still getting a nice little return though.
Luckily my contract has been taking the taxes out for me otherwise I'd be writing a big check.
