Amazing Artist Geoff McFetridge recently rebranded Pepsi's One campaign. It's got me thinking, how does everyone feel about artists you admire working for major corporations?
It seams the "Beautiful Losers" once rejected, raw, and pure as artists are now commercial branding machines. In my opinion, artists who work for the major corps cheapen their work and message. More money, less soul, and vise versa.
Artists should strive to make soul the most important reason for doing work, to focus their message as truthfully and honest as possible. I'm not sure how that's possible with a Pepsi logo slapped next to your work because now, the reasoning for the art is to sell more cans of tooth rot. Bottom line, you are now a money making machine for shareholders and that's it.
I realize that my opinons are controversial as most of us make a living from working with these mega corps. But even in times of working with them, there is an emptiness there.

better to hock sodi-pop than slot machines.
it all comes down to ethics. I don't think this guy's doing anything unethical. So more power to him.
I wouldn't mind a pepsi-cola paycheque.

g-mac gets paid to do what he likes. it's called a job. probably better than having to sex up unattractive people.
on topic: if i was an actor in straight porn films with hot girls, yes, that is sex for money, and no, i wouldn't complain.
