also if you want excellent crits you better post this as well to the typofreaks forums such as typographica and the likes..

vburo- good idea about the other forums. i had not thought of them.
i dont really want to post a pdf, because then it can be edited too easily.

Password protect it and disable editing/printing/etc.
Just a thought ..
Font's coming along nicely btw ;)

Are you drawing the outlines in illy, fontog. or fontlab?
What are your thoughts so far? Anecdotes, lessons learned?
- kld0
looking good ivan, but the W sticks out to me as awkward, A little too vertical. Looks like a flipped M. If there a precedence for this ignore my comment. Its the only thing that stuck out on first glance.

solid- so far this is my workflow...
1. create grid for all glyphs to follow.
2. draw glyphs on grid as paths.
3. stroke paths as desired.
4. expand stroke to outline.
5. clean up each glyph.once i settle on the glyphs i'm gonna dump them into FontLab.

kid- thanks for the feedback :-) when i decided to go mono, i actually did just flip the M. i'm still trying to decide if it needs to be slanted. it would make for a more traditional W, but i would have to use more angles and i'm trying to be very minimal.

cool looking good, I wish I had time to finish some faces that I started.

You making it for Small Transport? Or you just using his name. Looking good, agree with suggested.

very nice Ivan:
im going to give u one hint
its about optical balance of X
you need to offset the X a bit to make it balance opticaly. if you look at the x the arm / is not in a straght line opticaly... take a look.
to fix that, you need to cut it off and move up abit, then it will be opticaly aline.
hope this help.

and the cap "U" set it a little bit below the baseline to blance out the strong virtical stress of "U"
damm i share all this stuff... haha oh well :P

epictive - it's not for jeremy, but he may use it a bit. i just wrote out his name for fun and sent him the image.
setsolid - thanks very much for the advice. i am designing the font within a strict grid and am having quite a bit of trouble letting go of that. i think the next step will be to have a beer and start tuning the font optically.
:-)
thanks all.

have a few more beers and contribute it to David Carson.

Ivan - you started out with outlines that were somewhat flawed but possessed a quirky character (no pun ..)
I think with your most recent version you've sacrificed much of what made that initial version notable (at least in the upper case) ... ?
In the lower-case sample I see a slightly accentuated 45-degree angle at the corners (b, c, e, o, m etc) - is it just a quirk in the image or is that intended?
This is an exaggerated eg. of what I mean by 45-degree:

Wow, the font looks great but who the hell is the jeremy guy and what is smallTransport?
Great work Ivan, for real. It is really coming along!
