I feel bad for asking, but google is letting me down.
There is (or was) a CSS property that allowed you to make a div keep a position within the browser window. like absolute positioning but within the context of the browser window, not the page.
anybody know what this is, or if it's phased out? I can't seem to find any reference to it... supposed to be part of the CSS2 spec I think.
Similar to the searchbar at http://www.iht.com
but not javascript.

it's 'fixed', but doesn't work in IE for definite.
There's 'static' as well, can't remember exactly how it differs but it only woorks in Safari as far as I remember.

z-index: 300;
will stick a div above all other divs with absolute positioning....
