Hillcrest, downtown, la jolla, coronado, tijuana if you want vicoden or steroids haha.
In Hillcrest you have to check out Sushi Ono...expensive...but unreal good. Hillcrest is probobly the funkiest area...Mint has cool shoes...hamburger mary's has decent food...gets kind of crazy...mixed crowd but fun.
On 5th between Hillcrest and Downtown you HAVE to go to Extraordinary Desserts...rediculous. I live in Seattle now and nothing compares. You want yummy? I miss that place more than anything and apparently they opened a new one downtown that serves beer and wine too. bonus.
Gaslmap district downtown if you feel the need to see frat boys in tight shirts carrying bud lights and hitting on your girlfriend.
and last but not least the beaches...i recommend the la jolla beaches or coronado cuz they are nice...pacific beach can be a good time.

Since I'm at work and can't list everything to do at once, email me at and i'll give you a luandry list of things to do/see/experience. There's no shortage of experiences to be had here, you just have to dig a little to find them. I haven't heard seen anyone post this yet...but here in San Diego, drinking on the beach is LEGAL.

F-18, woahhhhh! Not on all the beaches. I believe that only covers Pacific Beach. But if you want to do that, I wouldn't walk around with bare feet. You never know what drunk idiot broke a bottle and left it littered on our beautiful beaches.

Thought that was a county law, I stand corrected. Yeah down by us you can drink, but cans or plastic only. Its like a $400 fine for glass on the beach, so its actually surprisingly clean most of the time.

The gaslamp is excellent, it feels like a european city, great restaurants and bars. There are some nice beaches just outside the city too.

Its not too far from Black beach.THIS IS A MUST SEE!
