we are all creative here - so, I am moving into a new apartment with ceilings that are 12 feet high. Big windows too!
I am looking for a large fabric design/picture/painting for a wall. I figure fabric will be cheaper......need to go inexpensive with this......
any ideas?
thanks

PAINTINGS!

er, I mean, paint 'em yourself.
if you're feeling stuck, just copy...call it a derivative.

< see plastic.kid in NTB
that should get you started

do some plastic kid stuff...........
if your too lazy, get big square pieces of fabric (like dark blue denim) and hang it on your wall, and everyday do a little sketch on it with a white paint marker.

i have been thinking for getting a carpet for one of my walls
the basekindacolor

thatd be cool but itd need too much maintence, itd get real dusty and youd have to vacuum it...haha
with fabric u can just wipe it down

that will be my maids problem ;)

doesnt have to be easy to clean. guaranteed the little foamcore from plastic.kid dont respond well to a wet wipedown.

foamcore looks like shit after awhile
i did the fabric thing before and it has the effect of making a room really cozy (like a tent), but has the drawback of making your large space look small. (unless it's a lighter color)
i'd go with the suggestion above and paint onto the wall itself
nobody's really doing that for their homes yet, and it's a great coversation starter

my point exactly.
why not just paint on the wall itself for maximum design freshness. just make sure you can either get your deposit back or you have mummy and daddy's permission.

you can do a mix media deal with the painted wall and the fabric cut into shapes that fit the design of the painted wall. itll make it look like a bas relief almost.

I always check out the greek standards for colors and rooms. Always painted a Bachus fresco in my dining room, etc. Deep red for an entrance, and the list goes on.
Nothing like some ancient influence. Try asian standards and myths. I always use them to pick colors and themes.

I'm not sure if this was said, but a good way to take up space is to go to IKEA, but a cheap plastic table for like 50 bucks and break the legs off of it and hang it. It will look bigtime Art Deco. Also buys large canvasses and paint them the same single color. Seperate them artistically next to each other. Poof! Hang...
