I had a one pg. folio up for a minute until a potential employer saw both and said there wasn't enough depth to the samples on the one pg site so i went with the multi pager.

I like 1 pg folios, it's a good way of highlighting your most recent work. plus, I'd rather be working on client work than to fuss with my own site.

Edvin, I really like your work and sites. Although I agree with the fact that it's probably better to focus on client work rather than one's own site, I think the designer has to make it interesting or creative in some way, because there are so many one-pagers out there now. I find your portfolio to be quite interesting.

thanks Jaline. Yeah building a full portfolio is the way to go for designers. I've had full portfolios and I end up not changing for years. whereas I can easily change the look of the one pg folio in a few days and it'll always be fresh.
Jaline, I was looking at your site today too, it's very nice and simple. I'm trying to learn CSS to build an artist site, but it looks very hard.
- Jaline0
Thanks.
I wish I were as good at Photoshop as I am with CSS. I'm still learning basic stuff for it, and I've had Adobe products for at least 7 years. CSS can be VERY frustrating at times, so it took me quite a while to actually get that design finished. You can find lots of scripts online too, and just get the hang of it before making your own.

I printed some tutorials and it looks really straight forward. I haven't really had too much time to learn. I will probably investigate more.
For me I'd rather spend time designing or doing creative work, but it's harder to get work from just design. Sometimes I have to build sites too, I enjoy that too.
Did you get that government job? You posted something here last week. She emailed you about the offer but you didn't check your email until after the expiry date?
- Jaline0
Yeah, she never emailed me back or called, unfortunately. Just doing some freelance work until I can get a part-time job and my student loan, for now. Hopefully I'll get something more permanent once school starts up again in September, or sometime within the next year. I don't want to leave too much space in between jobs.
- piperboytoy0
Oh that's too bad. I hate when people do that. if they offer something there shouldn't be an expiry date on it too. Would it kill her to reply and tell you that they found someone else?
I'm sure you'll find something. If you decide to move to Toronto for the summer, let me know because i can hook you up with a few head hunters, and job agencies.
- Jaline0
You're awesome :)
I probably won't be moving for a few years though.
I visit Toronto every once in a while cause most of my relatives are there and I was born there.
- piperboytoy0
no worries, I've been living in TO for over 14 years, and now I'm beginning to hate it. There's lots of work there. But I don't think it's too creative.
Why did you move to Ottawa? i've only been there once and hated it. the museums are nice.
- Jaline0
Parents moved here because it's quiet and less people. Also, my relatives are crazy people, always starting fights. It's always like that with big families. I have 4 siblings, my parents have 8 siblings each. Imagine how crazy it would be. I prefer Ottawa for how quiet it is. I'm not one for crowds.
I missed the cool shows and events in Toronto, but thankfully, we've been getting lots of big names over here this past year.

cool sent you an email. Talk to you later.
