Oh snap, soda. Ya know, I bet you'll have fun though. I was completely freaking out about the muslim reception we had, with my father-in-laws' 300 closest friends and it was actually a really fun time.
We made out like bandits with all the ducats we got, which is the best thing about these muslim receptions, they much rather give money than gifts.
Best of luck man, but I'm sure it'll be a great day!

cheers snuggles, I'm actually dreading the day a bit but looking forward to it all being sorted finally. It's been a long time coming and I still can't believe it's going to be all out in the open finally...!

word exador, we're all beige brothers in arms. You and your wife should come out to the Toronto drinks, I'm sure mrs.snuggles will be out in full force...

That's no fair, I miss out on the inter-racial drink up!
You were right we did talk about this ages ago, I've been with my wife for 12 years plus, we have been married for a year and it's only now that it's all sorted with her folks. Blimey it's been a long time coming and is going to be very strange when it's all over!
No more lies and I will even be able to pick the phone up to her mum and dad!!
well I'll have a drink to you both too... of course, it will be a soft drink...

looking back on all of it, i think i was a whole lot luckier than most..
first off, my wifes family comes from Kerala, the southern province, and are catholic..second, her parents both moved to germany at an early age to study, and met there...they weren't 'aranged' like many....
when my wife and i met years ago, i was invited to dinner with her parents, and we all got along really well, didnt' bother them in the least that i wasn't indian..
that alone is practically unheard of from what i've seen..
more than a few of her indian girl friends had to hide their relationships..
it was a bit of a minor scandal so to speak that their daughter was dating me, and more than a few folks stepped to her dad about it, but he camly told them all to shove it...that they weren't living in india any more and that she could date whomever she wanted...now, all of this is over a decade ago, and all of those same people in the indian community that had a problem with me treat me like a son too..
(helps that i play dutiful son in law at the big parties and serve them all their scotch...) that, and the fact that i know more about bollywood movied than even they do now... ;)anyhow, i'm waaaaay lucky...
my older brother (posts here on NT as 'turtle' dated a punjabi girl for about a year or two..and her parents were pretty frickin livid about it...as for toronto NT drinks..hell yeah..i've missed the last few, and have been dying to go the next one..

sounds like you had it better than most exador, glad it worked out well for you.
Ours has been a bit of a long haul, Ellie (I'll fill you in on all the nitty gritty next NT drinks!) but it has all worked out really well.
Better than we ever imagined to be honest.
And I'm grateful for it every day!
