Im trying to print onto cd envelopes from Illy, but there isnt a setting for that size media and when i use an A4 artboard but try to print onto the envelope it wont let me, my printers an epson 1290 by the way, any idea if theres a way round it???

There should be cd artboard already in illy. Failing that just make an artboard the same size as the envelope?

you can manually adjust the paper size. that's what you want right?

yeah its the one with the window, yeah i can adjust the paper size but its not working properly, dont know whether its something to do with my printer..
I can make a custom paper size, but when i go to choose it in the print settings its ghosted out, argh!!!!

hhmmm...strange. presume your on panther? maybe check out apple to see if there are any extra patches....

Sorry, I mean to say C5 envelopes, not cd, doh!, ill go check apple, last resort before my printer gets 'accidentally smashed to fu*k'!!!!!

I'm not sure what you're trying to do but I think you're saying you create a document in Illustrator and through the Document Setup window, you chose A4 for your artboard's dimensions.
Then, when you try to print, the Print dialog window has grayed out your ability to change the size.
OK, First, why not just use a custom size for your artboard? You don't have to use A4. You can change the dimension of your artboard to anything you want. This is done in that same Document Setup dialog window.
Next, you are able to adjust the 'Media' size through Illustrator's Print dialog box. Choose the 'Page Setup' button from the Print dialog window then from there, you can choose a paper size or create a custom paper size.
The Page Setup is specific to operating systems, not the Illustrator program, but I don't know what OS wouldn't have this feature....

Ta but I know all that, im not an illustrator newbie!!! ;)
what im saying is its just not letting me print onto the custom paper size I have created in the same said dialogue box, Ive done it before, but now its bein wierd, jus wondered if anyone had experienceed this problem before.
And why the fuck doesnt illustrator have C5 envelopes as a media size anyway, they are pretty standard!

That's weird even by ancient HP 1220PS has C5 envelopes check to make sure you've installed your printer packages on disk 2.
