Yes! Yes! In his FACE!!
ok not the movie, but me. Travelling from Sydney in May.
Man it's proving hard to do this visa thing. It's illegal for me to
travel as a 'tourist' to the states and go and find work. I have to primarily be there for vacation purposes only. Only if by "chance" (that's the key word), I get offered work do I have to return back here to sort out the working visa. Other wise it's try set one up now before I leave. My dilemma is, as much as everyone else, how do they expect employers to hire someone they've never met????? That's crazy!!, or I'd
have to be crazy lucky. I'm sure I can pull some strings whilst I'm over there, basically pimp my online folio, but I can't do the working visa thing until I'm on home turf.Dilemma dilemma dilemma
Damnit why do they make it difficult for someone that sincerely wants to work their arse off?! I've already offered to deduct sponsor fees from my salary but I find the 'hiring a stranger' factor an impossible feat.
end rant...

America is big... where are you wanting to work/live... uh, I mean vacation.
Also, I have done the research and it is just as bad, maybe worse, for a American to go to AU.

nice work
I personally wouldn't lead with the casino work but if you know flash you shouldn't have any problem getting freelance work if you get a visa.

You're right it's big. I'm heading to the west coast, LA, visiting phoenix also, then over to NY, then back to LA. That's my tourist destinations where I have relations (accom). Work wise I'll work in either cities. All I know is I want to work work work followed by play play play of course. and 90 days isn't enough for me to get familiar with a place and its people. therefore a working visa is ideal.
I just don't understand the concept of the visa regulations they have in order to get sponsored. It's definitely looking like refer a friend type thing.
why is the govt making it difficult for us.

Do you know what the word dilemma means?
You better check it in case some potencial employee asks you.

i heard it can be hard to get a permenant residency work relted visa ( my own made up term )
Rob Coleman is the head of Animation at ILM - made Hulk, CG Yoda, and tonnes of other amazing stuff for George Lucas. Man I hate all those movies...
But he is from Canada - so george wrote a letter to his friends at immigration, and it still took Coleman two years to pass GO.
And then he had to wear a red letter C on his chest for ever, and go to meetings.

Ha ha. America will never be the same. Now everything is a pain in the ass.

it's frustrating. in any case it'll be a good vacation if i dont get sponsored.

sorry that you're having problems with getting a VISA but I don't think it's just the US.
Couple yrs ago I went to London to visit a friend and when I got back to the states I thought hard about moving to London.. ..But I heard from my buddy that to get a job in London you need a VISA and to get a VISA you need a job... damn catch 22.

for shure

working is a catch-22. always.

i've been working in london for 13 months now. the visa thing was and continues to be a gargantuan pain. but it's the same for any country that isn't part of an economic (or commonwealth) network with your own country. if you're not too old, there are programs that sort out the visa for you and then you're free to find work once you're on the soil. but i (and everyone else i know who's working abroad) had to spring for a plane ticket to go to my job interview -- not even knowing if i was going to get the position. when you go initially, you can enter on a tourist visa and go to interviews, etc. anyway.

yay, thnx for those responses. i can easily go work in london, or canadia cos its easy for commonwealth countries, but i hate shite house cold weather 8-9 months of the year, so its the u.s or bust!
