why isn't he cashing in on this urbanoutfitters cbgb t-shirt craze???
that seems like a petty sum of money to me.

he probably is cashing in on that.

It's a shame. I really hope this isn't bought up by Clear Channel or some bullshit company like Urban Outfitters looked to cash in on underground culture.
Or it will close down and open up in Las Vegas as a gimmick.
Anyone that's been there knows it deserves its landmark status. Still the best place for a hardcore show.

This also happens to be one of the last decent venues left in the city to see a hardcore show.
Coney Island High, Wetlands, Tramps...all done with. The Continental doesn't seem to have anything other than Murphy Law shows, but it still can't hold a candle to CBGBs.

urban outfitters sucks. that would be a shame people with some $ definetly need to step up it really doesn't seem like a lot of money to raise.

'underground'...
that term doesn't really apply to CBGB's anymore... after 30 years it's not exactly 'underground'. (especially when they've got shirts in Urban Outfitters)
The owner should also have more than enough money to handle this on his own - if not... he fucked up - that simple... the burden should be on his shoulders to figure this out. If people want to help - then so be it... Urban Outfitters wouldn't be making shirts if CBGB's owner wasn't getting his cut.
I'm not trying to be cruel here... but it's not right to say that Urban Outfitters or some other company should pony up the cash because someone else fucked it up (his accountant)...
... it's a shame to lose the place - yes... but it's no one's burden but the owner's.

You're right, the name CBGB's is not underground, but the majority of people wearing the shirt probably have not been there. And the bands that play there are for the most part, quite underground. So I stick by my original statement.
And I don't think any corporation should pony up the money.
