if you don't swap the gas, like im saying to, youll be pissed
in fact replace the gas tank
trust me
you dont want what is in that tank of gas /sludge anywhere near your engine ever at all
unless of course replacing every part dollar by dollar sounds enticing

same car (on ad1's link) as you linked for 7000 pounds!!!
- rabattski0
replacing the tank is a bit hardcore and a wee lill ridiculous though cloned :)

it did not seem like the owner did anything to it at all this 25 years...never started it or anything :( I need to go by and check the milage.
yeah it is pretty cool what you can find out on the country here in the south. In sweden where i'm from the rust would have eaten up a car in the age a long time ago
- rabattski0
it's the service history from when he used it. the last 25 years is not that important since it's not used (you don't really need service).

ok true enough about hardcore but do the time/cost math of that one action compared to all the consequenes of a nasty rusty sludgy tank
ive bought 3 jeeps in my day did it to every single one of them
WELL worth it

so it might be an investment? i think it was a 280 though...it had blinker sticking out between the head lights and the grill...so it was litle more details on it then the one i linked.
- Spix0
ok..i see what your saying..i'll see if there is anything about the service history...
- rabattski0
yep. service history, mileage, exact type and year. check under the hood as well. cross check that on the internet. still $500 for a '66 mercedes is a super bargain. i would have bought it with my eyes closed. then again, i think mercedes is durable.

2door/4door?
- Spix0
4 door....I have to go back and take a picture of it later...it had blinkers in between..so it was not just like that pic either.
- Spix0
yeah, it ha blinkers like that, but they where pointy, and it was a 4 door...but i'm sure if it wsa that fancy...it was to cold and rainy for me to take a longer look...but i go by there later to take some pictures.
- rabattski0
could be right, since that is a '71 230. take pictures. get the details etc.

That's a sweet looking benz...
What ever you do don't try and start it until you have completely changed all the fluids. That motors been drying out for the past 25 yrs so you need to lube that up thoroughly. You might want to change all the belts, seals, the gas tank, spark plugs...ah fuck it. Just find someone who's willing to do this for you first. That will all end up costing you more than the car so look hard.

did you get the car yet?

I would think that the engine has seized by this time. The metal parts have been in that position for so long now, I doubt it would ever start as it is anyway. You're probably looking at a complete engine overhaul to make sure everything is freely moving before it's started. (*good way to break pushrods, piston rings, rods, etc.) Still, for $500 bucks, an engine overhaul may cost a couple of thousand dollars... you'd still have a very sweet buy - and investment!
I'd do it... I'd just be careful how you bring it back to life.
