anyone ever come across a scenario like this... my mail subdomain now points to some dude's website instead of being the place where my mail server resides, resulting in me getting server errors when i try to get my mail. all 3 domains that i have hosted under my account point to this address. none of the other domains hosted on the server do this. anyone have a clue to what's up?

no but my ass was once hijacked and it hurt for weeks.
It all happened at a frat party...
...yeahhhhhhh maybe I should stop.

i got my handcraftedpixels.com domain jacked by one of the employees at a hosting company.

thats illegal dude, document and SUE

thats is fucked

yeah, it's frustrating as hell though, cause i'm not sure what the hell to do about it. why/how the hell could someone do it?

what are teh mx records for your mail server...or rather what were they before and what are they now?
- ribit0
more importantly, who has control of the domain?...start there.
- jpea0
i am able to control the domain from godaddy and my webhost, so things should be square, that's why i don't know what's going on. my mx records are the same as before: both set at clear-interactive.com. if you go to mail.clear-interactive.com i get the dude's site
- ribit0
Both sites are on the same server (same IP address)...looks like a subdomain problem.
Do you set up subdomains yourself, or does your host? maybe they got it wrong?

It seems to me that its just a DNS error and you need to talk to your host about it
both of
clear-interactive.com
and
mail.clear-interactive.com
point to 69.65.20.228and if you got directly to
http://69.65.20.228
you will get the same site as if you goto http://mail.clear-interactive.co… This to me would suggest that this guy didn't hijack you but is the default site for that server.so it is very likely that whoever is in charge of the DNS on your host side removed your MX record information, and that it is rolling over to the default site for that server.

Agree wth previous two posts. Apparently GoDaddy had some server load issues on Monday. Databases and some other backend stuff got screwed up. Contact them and I think they'll get you squared away. I had to do the same cause my databases were actin funky.

are referring to hosting with godaddy though? i just registered the names through them, but i host with another place.
- meph5040
I would say that is more likely your host and not godaddy, as the error is coming up on the host side of things and not godaddy's
Call your host tech support or email them first. The problem isn't that uncommon and shouldn't take a few seconds to fix, you shouldn't have to wait for the 48 hrs as the dns info seems to be fine, but your host needs to give you some answers
- jpea0
thanks a ton guys.
i sent off an email to the host and we'll see what happens.
- honda0
Oh yea, if you are simply using them for domain names, its the hosting company you need. My bad. Good call on emailing your host. Hope everything works out!

def. a hosting problem - good luck!

ok. heres the scoop. your using a host that has domainname.com/cpanel right. yep. And all that happened is that you have not set up your subdomain (mail.clear-interactive.com) to actually go to your webmail. it will still work with your outlook xpress/ t-bird that shouldn't matter. its a little bug in cpanel. the default subdomain will go to the first domain your host set up. Just set it up to point to clear-interactive.com:2095 and you'll be fine
- jpea0
did that and it still doesn't work for pop3 in outlook or entourage.

thanks! i restarted my machine and things are rockin smoothly now
thanks for the help ya'll!
