Holy crap.
Is anyone else getting as reamed as I am?
- GeorgiePorgie0
nope. 3.5K in the black zone

I'm 43k in the red, and that's only after a heafty contribution to my SEP IRA.
Unreal

I got a pretty good refund last year with the same numbers as this year, and now I owe! WTF?
- 2cents0
i get 350 bucks back... better than nothing.
- GreedoLives0
you have to pay $43,000 in taxes? how much frigging money did you make last year?
- GeorgiePorgie0
dear lord you are in debt
- 2cents0
or how many years has it been since you last paid?
- jevad0
43K in the red?!? htf!
- arthur0
Luckily, I already paid 25k in estimated taxes during last year. I had a pretty good year: 145k
- GeorgiePorgie0
ok, no offense have you inherited or what illegal means?
- GreedoLives0
are you incorporated? if you're pulling in that kind of dough you should be a company.
allows for much higher deductions.

I'm glad my taxes have been taken out of my checks all year. althoughI didn't do my quarterly for freelance so my return will be less. lots of write offs this year though.
- arthur0
Yep, I'm inc. I just don't have many business expenses so I pay through the nose.
I've got the dough so it's no biggie, just seems like a huge waste of money I've worked my ass off for.
- GreedoLives0
well shit, go out and buy a color copier or something and fudge the receipt to last year.
'be creative'good for you though...
bastard.
- mogwai0
thats about right if you are self employed, and had a good year. it sucks doesn't it. i'm sure you fit tax budegt into the bids though.
- arthur0
Yeah, the numbers all add up and it makes sense. I've got a very aggressive accountant but the numbers are there.
I do take into account taxes when bidding jobs, and save accordingly. The real drag: I worked so hard last year, nights, weekends, etc, and I really don't have a whole helluva lot to show for it. I don't have debt, just big bills. Damn.
The upside? I'm already on course for a better year this year.
Eat your heart out.

I thought I was alone...I was hoping to have a really nice return this year then I find that I owe them close to $600...
I guess I messed up somewhere but with all the federal, state, medicare and social s. they've taken from my checks, I've given them over 10k...WTF!!!

I'm hoping for a good return. First time filing cos I've only lived here a year - plus we bought a house this year....
- mogwai0
i got hit hard last year, and had to get a loan to pay the taxes, which i am still paying off.
Married, dual income, no children, is a rude awakening.
- arthur0
The house will help you considerably Jevad.
I'm thinking of buying a second property to use as a rental for the monthly income as well as the write-offs.
