I have been asked to drop what i'm doing to do a 'quick 5 minute PDF' which has now taken an hour, basicly i have made some artwork in illustrator and i am saving it as a pdf in acrobat 6. i have done all of this on my mac and it views and prints fine. the problem is it wont print on the pc's in the studio, it just says 'document cant be printed'
anyone got any ideas as i dont have time to mess about with this
cheers

print it from illustrator?
save as a .eps?
use postscript level 2? (or 1 maybe?)
rasterize and print? (1200ppi bitmaps for type).

soz for the vague question.
i have made an illustrator file (ai10)
saving it as a pdf in acrobat 6.
it opens fine on my mac and i can send it to both the colour and black and white printers in the studio.
the pc users in the studio can open it fine but when they try to send it to either of the laser printers it throws up the error 'document cannot be printed'
now i dont know if this is a problem with the actual file itself, or just the pcs/printers in the studio being messed up.
the problem with it is that it will be sent out to potential clients to view and print and obviously the majority of machines it will be viewed on will be pc's
cheers for any help ;)

My Japanese wife swears by PDF through illustrator, but i much prefer using a RIP. If you shoot the eps through inDesign/Quark and Distiller to make the PDF you might find it is more stable.

Could be that the printers don't accept ps based files - have they managed to print out pdfs to there before from the PCs?

well discovered what the problem is, well kind of.
basicly its a problem with the pc and printers, cant print any pdf from the pc, so its something for the technical department to fix not me

I find whenever i'm transfering PDF mac stuff to PeeCee it's best to use older versions of acrobat reader ie. version 5 normally works for me.
