Thank you all for your suggestions, especially FATE... now I get "the grid"
It's back to the drawing board...
for refinement...

The BW is her photography... she doesn't shoot a lot of colour. The make-up section will have the colour photos...

logo and colors work on the bcard ....I would do a double sided card with just the logo such as you have it .... and joycs.net placed on the line created between the 2 blues....
reflect the same funky style on the site and get a better secondary font.....and choose upper or lower.... or standard....but be consistent....
heres a site that will prove useful

awsome link!
Unfortunately my sis is always broke... so the card (and printing) have to be really cheap.. therefore 1 sided...
it's her bday today, so I wanted to give her something to help her make more money... maybe I should give her a pair of scissors for her VISA instead

they may screw up the color just a little and weirdly work in rgb for print... but they are cheap and double sided.....

I recently read that book DragKng. I would not recommend it if you are trying to learn about grids. It only gives an overview, along with an overview of typography and text.
You get just as much information from her website.
It does however offer some decent essays on how design functions in society. Anyway. It'll cost you $30 from chapters, I'd look into the Brockmann book -even though it will probably hit you about $100.
Still an interersting read, but not indepth.

I would butt the nav up to against the top and design the whole thing for 1024x768. Spread it out
