I'm graduating soon (finally) and I need to do a final project from concept through creation and I need a workflow or strategy that's hot.
Right now we use something boring like IAD (Iterative Application Development) and GUIDE (User Interface Design) at school, but I'm looking for a workflow that's more sexy and more 2005.
My project involves designing a website for a cool magazine and writing a plan for the backend. Clearly I don't need a workflow that's focussed on application development alone.
Any suggestions, links or even better books?

i usually start every project with a healthy dosage of drugs.
that gets the ol creativity flowin.

yep, ask hunter s. thompson about his views on drug use as they relate to artistic endevour (to steal a phrase from burroughs). the whole drug thing will pay off eventually...

I have been told that RUP is very popular in app development these days.

there is no need to do 'whats hot'. You do 'WHAT WORKS' for you and explain that fact to your committee. They cant argue with you.

One of the earliest models of the creative process is attributed to Graham Wallas, 1926.
The Wallas Model for the Process of Creativity
1. Preparation (definition of issue, observation, and study)
2. Incubation (laying the issue aside for a time)
3. Illumination (the moment when a new idea finally emerges)
4. Verification (checking it out)
I reckon the above works like this.
1) Define a project.
2) Think about it for a while!
3) Something will hit you!
4) Refine that something. This is definitely true.
