How many times do you have to tell people that images from the web CANNOT be used for print? The people I work with are f*ckin' morons!
...it's also too f*ckin' hot in my office today. It makes me a little fiesty. ROWR!!!

last thursday we were to do a small print piece. the client sends me a rather large file.
i'm like awesome.
i open it and it's a got damn screen shot of his webpage set to 300dpi. AND to top it off the dumbshit in microsoft paint or something carelessly circles around it (to show me it's his logo, even though it's the only one on the entire page) fucking up part of the logo.
not to mention the logo was on a green background.
unreal. i almost cried.

"images from the web cannot be used for print" is not strictly true of course... depends simply on how big they are, and how big you want to print.
/probably irrelevant post

i just helped a mate do a banner for the pub he manages. he sent me a jpg of what he wanted and was surprised thay i'd need to spend a few hours remaking it. "can't you just use that image a emailed you?" was his question. i buried him under the stairs with the door-to-door salesman.

not sure what an old boss was thinking but i handed him a printout of a flash animation during a client meeting and he said 'why isn't this animating?'
we didn't get the deal.
i quit a week later.

there are advertising salespeople here that have been working here for 5+ years, who still do not understand that we can't use logos from clients' web sites. I think they actually do know this but have an inability to tell the client "NO".

them:can you make the text blink on the page?
me:how much of it?
them:the whole page

ha ha! this is such a coincidence, just had a client this morning ask me to take the image straight off their homepage and make it into an A1 poster for a trade-show!
me: I explain that the image will be far too pixelated.
client: can't you just use that photoshop programme to enlarge it
me: I'm sorry but it's just impossible without a high-res version of the image
client: client now gets irritated and thinks I am being un-cooperative.
fucking unbelieveable!
- vburo0
client: can you make that logo spin?
me: no.
client: can you make the whole website but the logo spin instead?
me: ...tf?
- redFridge0
maybe explain resolution or dpi to them. "images from the web" can be confusing to morons. sites like istockphoto sell high res photos and they are on "the web"
meh or move on
