How are you going to do it. Got any good ideas about how to afford to buy a house here in london.
On a graphic designers wage, thing do not Add-Up.

I afforded one by moving to america and buying a 4 bedroom townhouse for less than the cost of a one bedroom flat in London.
Go figure.

I think the key is to get something that needs a lot of work and spend as little as you can to maximise profit. - i've been watching too many property shows man.

I am moving home to save up for a house. Edinburgh is an utter joke at the moment.
I heard that you can now buy a third of a house. Why would this have to be a solution surely wages should increase or there should be a redressing of property prices. A third of a house what a piss take.

Not 100% how it works but...
some friends of mine part bought with the council in Stoke Newington. Basicaly, you get a morgtage on 50% of the house and pay nominal rent on the councils half. Over time, you can graducally buy the councils half back off them. If you sell it, you and the council split the profits. Working well for them at the moment...

I've just bought a house looking on to here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/your…
Go south my friend. Forgot Islington, Hackney et al. Crystal Palace has enormous victorian buildings and is cheaper, green and friendler than most.
Oh, and it's part of the Olympic bid AND getting the East London Line extension!!!

edinburghs prices are grinding to a halt at the moment.
just from keeping an eye on the market, ive noticed that loads of flats are now "fixed price" instead of "offers over" - this is a sure sign of a turn in the market.
seemingly we're meant to be getting the English laws up here soon for property which means rather than the "offers over" way - where prices can rise to silly outcomes. when someone advertises their property at £160,000 then its whoever makes the nearest bid to that figure.
Im saving up my pennies for a nice penthouse at Quartermile on the site of the old royal infirmary on the edge of the meadows
