what kind of stuff are you looking for? fonts? history?

just reference points to what makes indian type, indian type - if you know what i mean.
i've got a client (a public speaker) who wants to emphasise her indian heritage, and would like to see one concept along the lines of her name written in style resembling indian type.

if you are looking for a roman type to convey an "colonial indianess" in type..look for the font Arrus.
it has nice curves and if used with a nice bright color can convery an indian feeling.its difficult to find a ref point cuz i have hardly seen the hindi script being used in graphic design, mostly it just mimic's the stylings of the roman type counterpart.
also histroically lots of the graphics and signs are handpainted.
here is a good link
the site design sucks...you gotta use IE.

ok. yeah, im thinking more traditional script, rather than colonial india style type.
i've noticed some of the scripts, like hindi, have that line, with the type hanging down from it. i think thats the most recognisable style - so i'm thinking roman type written in that style.
cheers for the link, some good info on there (but agreed the design suck. the nav is a frustrating mess!)

IMHO those indian-looking typefaces are cheesy
but oh well.check out this link

and one of the oldest "indian" type is a freeware samarkan.
cheers
*i hope they changed the design to that site, it would be NTB worthy.
