    if you are looking for a roman type to convey an "colonial indianess" in type..look for the font Arrus.
    it has nice curves and if used with a nice bright color can convery an indian feeling.

    its difficult to find a ref point cuz i have hardly seen the hindi script being used in graphic design, mostly it just mimic's the stylings of the roman type counterpart.

    also histroically lots of the graphics and signs are handpainted.
