tomkat
(Mar 4 05, 04:36)Post something.
I've never seen ANY problems with flash...

are you serious, moth?
really, flash content sux balls on my mac (shouldve mentioned that maybe)
the framerate is sometimes at the half of what it should be and "force quit" is a regular customer on flash heavy sites

show me an example site.. Maybe I've lucked out...
- imakedesign0
the firefox flash thing is simply that in IE it uses up to 4 times less CPU usages than in firefox.
this is only really a big deal if you are on a slower machine, or the AS is coded badly. on my beast of PC there is never a problem, but for lots of other users this is a huge problem.

STFU Chip. You suck at The Internets.

FireFox even busts Newstoday for me.

I find Firefox is really slow with Flash and it doesn't render it as nicely at times. And I don't like the way the images load in (like Netscape)
As for tabbed browsing - I've had it for years, see the bar at the bottom of your PC. You can open multiple windows and tab through them.

looking at gmunk.com right now on my sisters 450MHZ G4 using Firefox.. dude is chaking his ass as always- no problems.
next-
come one give me all these sites that crash or need to be forced quit,,, if a 6 year old mac can handle them then you all need to stop your crying.
- AMFA0
i only use fire fox, but it is a little buggy....
it crashes with flash sites every now and then... not all the time...
also every once in a while my tabs stop working.. cant open a new one, cant close and open one...
but still think it is a better browser.
for those of you on IE windows and still want tabbed browsing, popup bocking, etc,
use http://www.avantbrowser.com
Avant Browser - it repackages IE but you have all (and more) functionality than FF... but uses your existing IE engine....
- bgheen0
look at Slashdot.org
can't read a thing.
- swollenelbow0
it's not firefox at fault it's apple.
they are too busy figuring out a new color for the ipond mini.
- AMFA0
bgheen can you post a screenshot? just curious how it looks for you....

the plug-in for any mac browser slows anything down a ton if the site uses transparent bitmaps and a high frame rate... doesn't seem to like to push it.
if you exclusively use a mac for web browsing, you probably wouldn't notice the slowdown until you tried some sites on a pc. it's seriously night and day (for flash dev work too... macromedia's fault)
- sparker0
funny, mine looks fine.
as for plugins...that is not a firefox issue that is a plugin issue.
if you're unhappy with your performance, contact macromedia and adobe.
as for css. firefox handles proper css...just because you're used to broken internet explorer, doesn't make firefox incorrect.
i've never noticed a problem with pdf's, flash, css or news sites, banking sites, etc...
everything of mine works.
my specs...
gentoo linux 2004.3
sony vaio s150 notebook
pentium m/centrino 1.6ghz
512mb ram
etc...maybe you're all simply running shitty operating systems.
funny how i seem to be immune to the problems a "few" of you have.
:)
- DonnieTV0
Yep - funny that
- enobrev0
how's gentoo shawn?
Been considering finally making the full switch (at least on my laptop), just not sure what distro to rock.
- ********0
I am mysteriously immune too Sparker...
I have 3 computers at home- a dual G5, a dual 450MHZ G4, and a IBM thinkpad running XP- at work there are two systems in my office- mac and PC...
and Firefox works for EVERY site I visit on all of them... most Flash sites I visit work fine on my macs (and yes I check them with my PC as well... I don't see no "night and day" comparision)
--
So again I ask-
Give us links to all these horrible sites that you blame the browser on... give us links to these Flash sites that are so dreadful on a mac...Again- right now I am on a 6 year old 450MHZ G4 and everything is running smooth
- DonnieTV0
Aye, you think they run okay, but we're perfectionists.
