so which is better, Adobe GoLive or Macromedia's Dreamweaver?
i mean, is there something one offers that the other doesn't?

my personal pref is dreamweaver, but i'm finding a lot of stidops asking that mentioning ADOBE Creative Suite (in which GL is bundled) and i was just wondering if it WAS better than dreamweaver....i'm giving Go Live a 'go,' designing my first site in it. so far it's good. still preffer dreamweaver.

I prefer Dreamweaver but I have to admit to never really giving GoLive it's fair due. I used it for a little while until I got the MX suite, then never saw it again. :\

I'm using GL because it's what I learned on. It totally works for me and is pretty user friendly.
From what I hear, almost everyone on the backend of things prefer DW files above and beyond GL.

I'm using GL because its easier to build a proper CMS rather than move our single-author site production to DW... (10000+ flat HTML pages etc).

i used to use GL (from version beta) and even lectured it when i did that a few years ago but dw has overtaken it well and truely. gl adds a whole lot of extraneous code for no real reason and is simply not as adaptable as dw.
saying that, if you need an easy wysiwyg and don't care about page load times then gl is fine. the layout grid can help but really makes the page size bloat and can render oddly on some browsers.
try both and see what you prefer. it's all up to you.

i find GL has a better interface, and also handles laying out the page better, but i find it handless CSS and java scripts like ass... DW handles it much better.
But then again i'm a print designer... so what do i know.

been using DW for a few years nwo and love it. But my new work didn't have it for me and since Gl came bundled with CS, I'm starting to use GL at the office at least. But I haven't dug around in it yet.

im using GL - because we use it on my job - but i find DW much more professionel.. GL often remove php code if you have used an external editor.
+ the code often looks messy and unclean..
there are many problems with the cs version compared to v6!
maybe i have to use dreamweaver : )

Oh, and no, no mullet for me, no kentucky waterfall, definatly no skullet... hahah the ole' skirted eggshell. Nah, it just plain old grease for me ;-p
Still, my car will whoop a camaro, and pretty much anything else on the road.
