ok, when i import a swf file, the buttons on it dont seem to work when i play it in my main movie..
im screwed...this suks

are you referring to the buttons as _root in any way? if so, don't. do _parent, _this, etc...

Try this
_root..empty_mc.loadMovie("your...
gives you nice control over the swfs you load.
like someone said make sure you use _parent or you can use LookRoot.

Look up the loadMovie() command or attachMovie() or whatever you're using to import other movies. You have targetting issues. Try to used relative targetting in your secondary movies.

isn't attachMovie only for movie clips in the gallery exported for AS?
And like others have said, just check what code dependencies your buttons have and review it.
