estimate how many hours you think you'll work on it. lets say 35$/h x 10h = $350. than add 1/3 or the total to your estiamte..bc you never konw if a client might be difficult:
$350 + $175= $525.
Also make sure to specify the number of revisions you are willing to include. (and tell them how much it would be if they exceed the predicted rounds)Yey ther you go.

500 sounds like alot for the proportions she explained...

dude, if shes a friend dont sweat it... ask her for like $200 bucks or somethin... Karma man, be good to your friends.

just make sure she understands that there isnt unlimited revisions and you wont change it for free forever.....
you want to do it and make it look really good ....but it still takes time to do these things

i'd do it pro bono if it's a friend and if it's really *tiny*. but do make sure it's really *tiny* as in it won't affect your work on other stuff. make it clear that the project is not going to be your top priority.
or else, charge about 150-200 bucks, i say. or ask your friend's bf if he knows someone cute.

Friends are the worst. it's a subconcious thing for friends to ask more than what is necessary or originally planned, because it's not going to cost them an arm and a leg. Overcharge on the quote, then if in the end you end up really not doing too much work, charge them only for what you did.
i.e.- quote at $500
but if you only do about $300 in work, charge $300 and be straight up honest about it. They'll love you for your honesty plus they'll feel like they're getting a bigger cost break from a friend.
