I'm not in the UK so I can't be much help.
But for most used cars you can check out little things to see if it's been wrecked before. Run your finger between the seams of the bonnet (between front fenders) to see if it tightens up. Then you know the bonnet doesn't line up properly. Also check the edge of the bonnet nearest the windscreen to see if you feel any "new paint".
As long as its nice and straight and the service records are there, I'd say go for it.

the G35 or the acura.
the Nissan did not fare well with consumer reports, plus it looks like shoe.
the G35's are like the best kept secret, wonerful cars.
the acura tl's are Honda's, so you know you're getting a trooper.

Kona make sure you go by the bookstore and pick up a CR car buying magazine. also a used car guide.

No service records :O
Be sceptical. Be very sceptical. People don't just "lose" the records, they hide them because stuff dont add up, for instance the odometer.
