i have an illustrator file that has some bitmaps in them. the bitmaps are scaled in illustrator. what i need to do is extract the bitmap out of illustraor at it's original dimensions. i tried copying and pasting into photoshop but it doesn't keep it's original dimensions. i can't find any export options for individual images. the help file is not helping either. please help!!

if the bitmaps are linked and not embedded you may be able to open...
wait, it just occured to me that the images must be imbedded. otherwise you would already have access to them in their original state.
yeah, i decided to just keep typing instead of cancelling.

hehehe
they're embedded. the problem with importing into photoshop is it keeps the bitmap the size it is in Illustrator. i need the bitmap in it's original size before it was scaled in illustrator.

time machine.
otherwise, try scaling them down in pshop. can't think of anything else.

good quation, i too don't have an answer unless you would have the file somewhere on you machine and not embedded.
hmm...

in this case your QUATION is very tough.

that's pretty frickin stupid if you ask me. the data's there... there's no reason they shouldn't let you save the original.

Embedded Images Info
Size: gives you the original dimensions before scaling.
Dimensions: gives you the modified size
Copy it out to PS and resize to the dimensions given in the "size" dispaly.Best I can do for ya..

right on zombie. that will definately help.
now i'll just hope that flash doesn't smoothen the image or anything

Can't you just scale it back up in Illustrator, then export it to photoshop?

this is kind of a hack, but it works...
in v10 (don't have CS), if you open the links pallete (make sure show all is selected in the pallete options) it will show you a list of all the bitmaps in the file. if you double click one, it will tell you what percentage it is scaled. you can then use this info to scale up your image to the proper size and then copy/paste into photoshop.
so, if it reports the image is scaled to (25%,25%), then scale it to 400% to return to its original dimensions.

i was getting ready to type that but i'm on the phone right now.
