iPod charging

Does the USB 2.0 link to the iPod charge? I have the firewire one at a design firm I part time at and the USB link says it's charging but my battery indicator hasn't gone up at all. Anyone?

i dont think so. i had the same question when i restored my factory settings using my usb. idmediatly after i saw a graphic of the firewire and the power outlet. it wouldnt work without my firewire. i have no idea

I've noticed this problem for the last few weeks...but i thought it was because I was playing music from it at the time. So I left it the last few days without playing any music from it while it was plugged in and the bar is staying at the same place.
It's plugged into the front USB on a G5..guess I need the firewire to charge. Kind of stupid IMO.

ahhh from Apples site:
'The simplest way to charge your iPod is to connect it to the Apple iPod Power Adapter using the FireWire cable that came with your iPod.'
Kinda lame that it say's it's charging with the USB cable.
