What are your opinions of the Best Buy Performance Service Plan. Worth it? Ripoff? How is the service? Does it take a long time?

That's what I am thinking so far. It's a good scam really. You don't even get a new product. They fix it for you. A lot of people probably don't even bother.

I bought it, 2 years ago, iBook logic board went. Apple covered it, but had to go through Best Buy, took over 30 days, so they gave me a complete refund, now got a PBook. I'd never guy from Best Buy again, but the PSP gave me that option to get a complete refund.

they always replace with a brand new product from the shelf. They even tell you just to go pick a new one yourself.

If you buy something like a video camera they recommended as it is so necessary for them to clean the dust out of it every so many months. It's a good scam to get an extra $50 or so off of everything you sell.
I have to take an expensive Sony DVD player in that I have a plan for. I treated it perfectly and it stopped reading discs in less than two years. I thought I would get a free one until I read more into it. So I'll see how their repair goes and what a pain in the ass it is.
It's good to hear from someone who has first hand experience.
