tkmeister, no i haven't used them yet, but i talked with them at length about their services, "imagers" and materials and they are extremely helpful and their prices seem very affordable. they have an area on their website where they will send you a prototype sample to your address - which i highly reccommend...

the prototype machines are amazing..
but you dont get to learn about materials.
key in andy ID including furniture design is to know materials and utilize them completely
its also hard to make a furniture in that scale..
but it would be great to use on small scaled ID products..
so can we all get together and chip in to 25k machine:?

yeah, hard to make a piece of furniture, i have a long sofa it needs to be prototyped. uphostery, metal frame and all. then i can use their service to do something smaller.
maybe MrDinky is right...i need to rent a shop and do it myself. experiment with materials, sometimes there are many surprises along the way.

i usually spend at least few hours a week trying out different materials.
just try it.
i mean i made sofa that only lasted few days. or chair that wont stand.
best thing you can do is do a cardboard mock up of the product and find out if works or not.
or do a small model.
