oxymoronic language like
"virtually spotless" "fresh frozen"
light yet filling" and
"military intelligence" have become standard
T.V. is the place where phrases are redefined
like "recession" to "necessary downturn"
"crude oil" on a beach to "mousse"
"civilian death" to "collateral damages"
and being killed by your own army
is now called "friendly fire"it never stops....

that's what i'm talking about MX_OnD
you forgot:
"smart bombs"
"surgical strikes"
"humane war"

Bush was talking two days ago about, "elections are going forward," "these people want to be free, want to choose their own leader."
The only mention of the turmoil was him saying something like "We know it's hard."
His typical catch-phrase.No mention of the fact that many people there will choose not to vote out of fear, or they don't know the candidates, etc.
It is a mess and the way the US measures success will be a joke.

Yup vespa, I think that it's also part of a jargonisation designed to keep the populous ignorant. Putting the wolf into sheeps clothing to all intents and purposes.
- vespa0
what i wanna know is "What's the goddam EXIT STRATEGY"?!
anyone heard them mention ANYTHING about this?
- vespa0
true MX_OnD
or else they just talk impenetrable nonsense that actually has no meaning to begin with:
"Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me because, as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know." (Donald Rumsfeld)

that's a tough one. although having an election is better than having a dictator, no?
- _smk0
yeah, but at the right time surely...
- paraselene0
"exit strategy"?
well, the way things are going, i reckon it means fuck off and let 'em fry.
- vespa0
*gulp gulp gulp
mmm that tasted gooooood para.
hey... having an election IS better than having a dictator! i mean it doesn't matter that they can't actually vote because they can't leave their homes for the unprecedented security that is now part of their liberated lives, FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY have won the day! yeeeeeehaaaaawwww!!!
mind freshening up this pint glass para? it's gettin a little dry...
- mg330
Aren't there like 80 people running for president there?
- lowimpakt0
i want to know the exact powers available to a newly elected govt. in iraq. I want to know if a newly elected government will be able to repeal unpoular laws made by the CPA under Paul Bremer such as the change to Intellectual property law making it illegal for Iraqi farmers to collect seeds in a manner done for thousands of years. as someone said this is akin to saying 'buy from monsanto or starve'

(search the word seed )
- paraselene0
vespa, i've made you a whole threadful...
- vespa0
yea mg33 only no-one knows who they are because none of the candidates want to reveal their names or show photographs because of the high possibility of getting murdered. so all the candidates are represented by little logos - see, branding DOES change the world! also, no-one knows where the polling stations are for the aforementioned unprecedented security, BRILLIANT it's like a massive underground political rave and everyone's invited!
- mg330
Does anyone ever really stop and think how things might be there now, if we HAD NOT invaded?
Honestly, it's been, what almost two years, now, and this is the first time I've thought about that.
