If I see a good thread sinking I need to bump it.

well said that man. My intention was to hear about anyone else's superstitions – as always, we ended talking about MX's me-somes.

most of my disturbing behavioural ticks are obsessive-compulsions rather than superstitions.
of the few superstitions i have managed to retain into my laconic old age, i am lucky to count:
a fear of killing spiders inside the house, ditto opening an umbrella,
placing a hat on a bed, leaving an unlit candle in view, the ubiquitous salt-spill left shoulder follow-through and an extreme reluctance to light a cigarette with a lit candle.

haha i've got the hat on the bed hex superstition too para! saw drugstore cowboy when you were an impressionable teenager?
obsessive-compulsive behaviour: if i'm sitting round a circular table and there's one too many chairs vs people i MUST remove the extra chair so the circle can be closed. sound like a fucken witch eh?
- paraselene0
nah, i just grew up in the same part of the world as the characters in that film. as well as gus van sant. so those things are likely picked up via regional collective memory.
it's a tribe thang.
but i did see that movie when i was an impressionable teenager and i was impressed.
there's no logic to it t'all, but matt dillon = swoooon.
can i come over and chill with your coven?
- paraselene0
arrgh! when the superstitions thread is on 13 i have to post!
arrghh!
- dippy0
i'm not familiar with the hat on bed thing. What is it?
- paraselene0
just that if you put a hat on a bed you'll have really bad luck.

A few years back some friends of mine and I rented a house. On top of each door (on the trim) someone had sprinkled salt.
we guessed it had something to do with keeping spirits away.
or they just really loved salt.
- vespa0
haha what part of the world wuz that para?
agreed on matt dillon *sigh*
- dippy0
I'm superstitious about believing in superstitions.
