I got to see the movie over the weekend. I really did not think, that mush of the movie. It has to be one of his worst films.
Why it's up for Oscars is beyond me.

I think that's the problem. When I was watching the film, I was just not that bothered about the mean characters.
Shame.

well, you are from london. i grew up in los angeles and saw the spruce goose as a child.
he was very fascinating to americans, especially his involvement with the government. he was the first private citizen to achieve such huge business accomplishments. he came way before bill gates or richard branson or whatever.

Terrible movie. Truly poor writing, and even worse articulation of a re-telling of Hughes. Indeed, Leo was decent at times, though surrounding roles were flat. Indeed, the story is interesting, but the cheap ways in which Hughes was exploited to make it more interesting, was, well, cheap.
I think this was somehow even worse than Gangs of NY, which was horrid—save Daniel Day Lewis.
Early work of Martin was much, much better.

Well if you are comparing this movie to his other works, then yes it fails to attain the same status. It is still a good movie though, there has been a lot of crap in the theatres lately and this was not all that bad.
