i want a very realistic style that looks slick when applied but can really be applied if i ever find my self in a confrontation i cant get out of.

i've been practicing aikido for a few years - sort of a mix of tai-chi, chi-kung and judo , with a good bit of swordwork thrown in for good measure without any of the machismo involved with the 'harder' martial arts.

I have heard those south-east asian martial arts are very fast to learn but is very tough techniques. am i right? i was told it had something to do with they all needed to learn fast so they were taught techniques to make the warriors in like 2 months time.

I can kick fuck out of pretty much anyone. It is more of an inexerable hell mash than a martial art, I have several moves but am not sure how they translate into a teachable method.
My style is called 'mad cunto'

2 and half years of Wing Tsun (Leung Ting, www.wingtsun.com), 2 years of Escrima (Filipino weapons system - www.escrimaconcepts.com). Had to quit for a bit as it was costing a lot, but managed to win a tournament in 2002 and travel quite a bit around Europe.
Currently looking for a Pakua master in the greater London area.

i used to do shotokan. I'd say kung-fu is really good to learn for self-defence, but it does take a long time to master. I'd reccomend kick boxing as somethign that'll work on your overall strength and ability to defend yourself - quickly. - but you will get your arse kicked by someone who knows some slick martial arts with some hold and stuff.
Also Tae Kwondo, works similarly to Kick Boxing in some respects
MX - Don't be fooled, i'm a pussy ;)

(Jan 25 05, 07:42)Southeast Asian Martial Arts truley does rule. I've been taking JKD and Kali for the past 5 years. No fancy crap, only what works for real fights on the street. Ironically the more I learn the less I want to fight.
Aikido is also a great Martial Arts. Teaches you how to excert the least amount of force to bring down your opponents. I plan to take some Aikido classes in the future...
