so i have been searching online and through my pricing & ethical book...and have come up empty handed. can someone please point me to a good source/answer for my problem (thanks in adv):
i have a client that owes me $4100 for over 4 months. I had agreed on reducing my hourly rate(which was already really low) becuase he was an old co-worker/friend to $3100 as long as i received my payment on a timely manner (30 days).
120 days later he called me and said he had a check for $2500, and if i accepted it, that would be the final payment! I held my composure over the phone and said that is not what we had agreed upon. he said he would talk with his other two partners and get back to me the next day (that was 6 days ago)
i really don't want to file a claim, but i am so fucking pissed right now. i am a very easy going guy and worked with this guy for over three years prior (he was my creative director). any advice?
i have received the first 50% of the payment, and that was actually on time...as if that matters. fuck. never do freelance for 'friends'

thats bullshit - ring him and tell him to pay based on your initial agreement - and if he doesnt tell him you'lltake him to the debt collectors. dont let yourself be walked over - your time is worth money and you shouldn't have to drop your price just because he doesnt want to pay. fuk it makes me mad just hearing it man!

that is really my fucking dilemna for not filing. i have all emails/ paperwork though. after some research i have found that email is 'as good' as a written contract though...whatever that means.

if it were me,
id take the 2500 and run. unless you wanna spend the energy to fight it. also be sure to tell the guy off.
